– Accident in Laddu Maar Holi – 22 people injured, SSP denied the incident.

During Laddu Maar Holi in Barsana, Mathura, a flood of devotees gathered at Radha Rani temple. A stampede-like situation arose due to the arrival of a large number of devotees. Meanwhile, more than 20 people were injured when the staircase railing broke at Radha Rani Temple. The temple priest himself has informed the media about this. Dr Manoj Vashishtha, in-charge of Barsana's community health centre, said 22 people were brought to the center after the incident and most of them have suffered fractures. District Magistrate Shailendra Kumar Singh said that immediate treatment was provided to the injured. Later the crowd was controlled which facilitated the devotees to have darshan. According to eyewitnesses, a large number of devotees were trying to get the laddus being distributed as part of the festival in the temple, when this incident happened. Many people were trying to get laddus by jumping over the wall, the video of which has surfaced on social media. The incident took place on Sunday evening when devotees were waiting for several hours for the doors of the temple to open. According to the temple priest, a festival was organized in the temple before Holi and a large number of devotees had come to the temple when the railing collapsed. On the other hand, the district's SSP Shailesh Kumar Pandey clearly denies such incidents. He says that the celebration of Laddu Maar Holi is going on in Barsana. Devotees are performing puja and celebrating amid adequate security arrangements. Rumors of stampede are being spread. There is definitely a lot of crowd but the security arrangements are adequate. We request everyone not to pay attention to rumours.
